Dear Tanzania Friends and my colleagues in the Embassy,

Good evening! 大家晚上好!

During His Excellency’s state visit to Tanzania in February, Chinese President Hu Jintao invited 50 Tanzanian youth to visit China. With the joint efforts and close cooperation from both sides, the 50 youth delegates, from various sectors and Regions of Tanzania, are due to leave tomorrow for starting an 8-day visit to 3 Chinese cities. We are very happy to have all of you with us tonight. I would like, on behalf of H.E. Ambassador Liu Xinsheng, my colleagues of the Embassy, and in my own name, to give you a warm welcome! Karibu Sana! I would also like to take this opportunity, to express my sincere thanks to the friends, who have been working hard for preparing the delegation’s visit to China.

Dear friends,

The friendship between China and Tanzania has a long history. We are good brothers, friends and partners. The excellent bilateral relations that we are enjoying, has been initiated with grand vision by our two great leaders, namely Muwalimu Nyerere and Chairman Mao Zedong, and carefully nurtured by the four generation of national leaders from China and Tanzania, including H.E. President Kikwete and President Hu Jintao. We need always keep in mind that, the young generation also has the great honor and responsibility, for cherishing and further enhancing the bilateral friendship to a new higher level.

As a Chinese saying goes, Youth is the morning sun with energetic and full of hope. It is you, and no one else, representing the prosperous future of your country. It is you, and no one else, bearing the grave duty to carry on the bilateral friendship between our two peoples. My fellow young friends, you are taking the good will and friendship from Tanzania to China on the road. I truly believe that you have lots of expectations from your coming tour to China. I am sure that all of you can extend your understanding of Chinese history and culture. I hope that you can also bring back the friendship from Chinese people to Tanzanian Lafike, by becoming the “young ambassadors” in promoting China-Tanzania friendly relations and cooperation.

I have the pleasure to notice that there are two members of the delegation from Tanzanian media. I sincerely hope that you will not only use this opportunity to cover the activities of the delegation, but also a truly China for Tanzanian people.

Lastly, let us once more, welcome all of the youth delegation to be the guests of the Embassy, and wish their visit to China a great success!
